In the last 2 articles we at Zamenet have deeply discussed aboutAmazon Web services and its Account creation service.
We promised that we will make a dedicated articel on Amazon’s S3 for our readers. So this is the blog for you.
In this blog we have written a brief summary about Object storage and how Amazon S3 can help you lower your Hosting Bills.
If you are running an online business, you need an hosting environment for sure.
Now there are already so many hosts available and that has a vast scope for discussions which we shall take at later point of time.
The reason why you need AWS’s software stack is to leverage its own data resources in order to extend elasticity and manage the overall infrastructure costs. In short, AWS is a cloud computing company, and it delivers resources on-demand to provide a cost-efficient and highly scalable environment to its customers.
There are different ways to get started with AWS. They are:
The official AWS S3 setup guides and instructions can be quite confusing. This may be due to the fact that many of us have no technical background at all when it comes to managing the AWS platform. There is, however, an easy way around this and one that I am going to highlight below.
There are two ways to setup your AWS account: The manual way and the automatic aws cased setup. For the latter, you need to create a reseller or dedicated server and configure your account settings. You will then be provided with a URL and a password for the portal. Setup should be done before you start using your personal computer. I suggest setting up your computer about a month before you start using the cPanel.
To expedite aws setup, make sure you follow all the steps outlined in the setup guide. The guide also shows you how to install a storage appliance, the aws agent and the template. It also explains the deployment setup and configuring of the environment variables. The setup guide also mentions the use of the aws APIs and the test runner. The setup process can be very challenging especially if you do not fully understand its nuances. This is the reason why I recommend hiring an aws consultant who will be responsible for setting up your account for you.
On the other hand, setting up your personal computer to use the platform is much easier. For this, you need to first download the latest official AWS installer and configure your computer according to the setup guide. You can also refer to the installation guide to find appropriate programs and utilities for your operating system. One must also note that the management platform is written in Java and so you will need to download and install the right tools and utilities.
The storage is also very easy to manage. The management interface has very few moving parts and thus it makes it very easy to use and modify. It also has the aws s3 buckets which provide you with excellent visibility and control over your entire data. Furthermore, it also comes with a very feature-rich utility called the a map that gives you insights into the health of your AWS resources.
There are also a number of other great features present in the storage. For example, you can create and edit indexes which are used by the aws APIs to provide you insight into the health of your entire data store. You can also create custom columns which are used to automatically create and group your documents. Last but not the least, you can also create custom snapshots using the image builder and easily label them as per your requirements.
To get started with your aws management platform, you first need to access the management dashboard. From here, you will have full access to all the aws resources including the s3 buckets and the s3 objects. The management dashboard provides you with a number of great widgets including the following:
While working with the management platform, it is also important to note that you don’t need to have any technical knowledge in order to use it. All you need to do is simply create an account and log in to your account. Once logged in, you can then add, edit or remove your aws objects. Furthermore, you can also easily create multiple aws objects with the template tool which will automatically create a number of unique resources for you. This is just one of the many aws templates which you can use to quickly create new resources and ensure that you are always well-prepared.
Although the management platform is easy to use and provides you with everything you need to easily manage your AWS resources, it’s important to also know that it comes at a price. In order to use this tool, you will be required to pay a monthly fee which is only $8. There is no other monthly charges or fees for using AWS resources on a monthly basis. This makes the management platform an ideal solution for anyone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money to keep up with their AWS management.
